This aviation hangar required a floor that could withstand heavy aircraft traffic, jet fuel spills, and constant mechanical loads while maintaining a professional, clean appearance. We delivered a full diamond-polished concrete floor that met every requirement.
The project involved grinding and polishing over 20,000 sq ft of existing concrete to a high-gloss finish. We repaired cracks and joints, applied lithium densifier to harden the surface, and completed a multi-step polishing process from 50-grit to 3000-grit for a mirror-like result.
The existing slab had significant surface imperfections and old coating residue that needed removal before polishing could begin. We used aggressive diamond tooling to strip the old surface, then transitioned to finer grits to build the gloss. Tight scheduling around active hangar operations required coordinated phasing to minimize downtime.
The finished floor is highly reflective, easy to clean, and resistant to tire marks, oils, and chemical spills. The client reduced their ongoing maintenance costs and gained a floor that enhances lighting throughout the space.
