RetroPlate
RetroPlate is not a coating. A common mistake associated with the high sheen of the RetroPlate System is that a surface applied coating has been applied to the concrete. The patented process of the RetroPlate System requires many passes with grinding and polishing equipment, in conjunction with a chemical densifier, to produce the final product.
The RetroPlate System is bare concrete that has been mechanically and chemically treated to provide a very abrasion resistant and durable concrete surface.
Coatings and Coverings
Typically coatings, vinyl products and other coverings have a shorter service life than RetroPlate. An installed coating system or floor covering becomes an immediate maintenance issue for the life of the floor.
Industrial use of epoxy or urethane requires regular re-application as heavy use wears off the polymer to expose the concrete floor.
Many retail outlets are moving away from the high maintenance of vinyl tile and sheet goods.
